My Award-Winning "Wealth out of Waste" Journey

Taking "wealth out of waste" and turning it into award-winning

the flowing water shows a real eye for miniature landscapes.

Incredible  achievement

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for me it’s a creative challenge. Recently, I participated in a "Wealth out of Waste" competition where I decided to push the boundaries of what "trash" can look like. I am so thrilled to share that my two entries took home both 1st and 2nd Place!

Have a look at how hand-painted bookmarks came to life.

 Nature in Miniature

My goal was to create something that felt alive. I wanted to prove that you don't need expensive store-bought materials to create a high-end showpiece.

1. The Cascading Waterfall (1st Place)
For my first piece, I used a broken pot as the base. Instead of throwing it away, I used its jagged edges to mimic a mountain gorge.

The Cliffs: I used pieces of discarded bark and wood to create verticality.

The Moss: Scraps of textured green material (even some dried botanical bits) gave it that lush, forest feel.

The Water: By layering waste materials to create a "foaming" effect, I managed to capture a waterfall frozen in time.

2. The Serene Stream (2nd Place)
The second piece focused on horizontal flow. Using a shallow container, I built a peaceful riverside scene.
I incorporated dried twigs and seed pods to add height and realism.

Small pebbles found in the garden lined the "water" made of repurposed blue textured paper and paint.

More than Just Decor Motivational Bookmarks
Along with the showpieces, I created a series of hand-painted bookmarks. I believe that if we are recycling materials, we should also "recycle" our mindsets. Each bookmark features a hand-painted design and a motivational quote

This project taught me that art is everywhere. A broken pot isn't a mess; it's a mountain. A discarded twig isn't trash; it's a tree. Winning 1st and 2nd place was a huge honor, but the real reward was seeing people realize that sustainability can be beautiful.
